Description: The bedesten was constructed by Behram Paşa, the governour of Urfa in 1566 during the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. A bedesten was typically the central building of the commercial district of an Ottoman town or city, where the most important and precious goods (like gold and jewellery) were kept and sold.
