Description: Funeral of Panait Istrati, the Romanian novelist and political journalist. The traditional hearse was replaced with an ox-drawn wagon, covered in ornamental carpets with folk motifs. The procession, which passes Grand Hôtel du Boulevard on Elisabeta Boulevard, includes members of the fascist "Crusade of Romanianism", with whom Istrati had been associated in his final months; Crusade leader Mihai Stelescu is at the center of the image, immediately behind the hearse, with Alexandru Talex visible over Stelescu's left shoulder.
