The Holden Monaro is a sports car by Holden Cars of Australia. It was built between 1968 and 1977 and again between 2001 and 2006. The Monaro is named after a region of New South Wales.
The 1968 monaro came in 7 different models, ranging from a inline 6 cylinder engine right up to a V8 engine. The Monaro had 8 different models over 2 generations. The HK, HT and HG, were the models in the 1 generation. It was also sold in South African markets as the Chevrolet SS. The HQ, HJ, HX, HX Limited Edition and HZ GTS form the 2nd generation.
The 2001 Monaro came in 2 models over 4 years, with both platforms being based Holden Commodore that was produced at the time. It had a 3.8L supercharged V6 engine or a 5.7L V8 engine. It was also sold in the United States as the Pontiac GTO and in England as the Vauxhall Monaro. It was also modified by Holden Special Vehicles and sold as the HSV Coupe.
