Halo is a nightclub and music venue in the Bournemouth area of Dorset, England, founded by Ty Temel and Gary Bennetton. Since its formation in 2013, Halo has hosted many notable artists and DJ's including Tinie Tempah, Giggs, Idris Elba, Annie Mac, Duke Dumont and MK. Halo is located 500 metres away from Bournemouth Beach and is based within a church, formally known as St Andrews Church.
Halo closed briefly in 2020 and 2021 due to restrictions imposed by the UK Government in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2020 renovation
On 1st January 2020, Halo temporarily closed for refurbishment. The club invested in a £500,000 refurbishment consisting of a Cîroc Lounge, a geometric themed interior, the UK's first floating LED Matrix lighting grid and a L-ACOUSTICS sound system. The refurbishment also featured a fresh look for the reception, bars, booths and toilets.
On 31st January 2020, Halo christened the newly refurbished club with a special launch party featuring performances by Sam Divine, Sigma and Jaguar Skills.
COVID-19 pandemic
On 23 March 2020, the UK went into lockdown. The governments imposed a stay-at-home order banning all non-essential travel and contact with other people, and shut almost all schools, businesses and gathering places. As a result of the lockdown, all events scheduled to be hosted at Halo were cancelled or postponed.
In August 2020, Halo was temporarily repurposed to operate as a cabaret style venue, in line with UK Government restrictions. All standing and dancefloor areas were converted into seated areas and the bars were now closed. Guests were now required to wear masks when moving around the venue, and staff members would deliver food and drink direct to the tables of guests. On 18 September 2020, the UK Government imposed a curfew of 10pm, forcing the club to adjust its opening hours to comply.
On 5 November 2020, the UK went into a second lockdown, again forcing the closure of Halo. On 2 December 2020, the government introduced a new regional programme of tiered restrictions, allowing Halo to reopen and continue its cabaret-style service.
On 5 January 2021, the UK announced a third lockdown, again forcing the closure of Halo. Halo plans to resume its cabaret style service from 17 May 2021, and its full unrestricted nightclub service from 21 June 2021 in line with the UK government roadmap for the easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
