Great Central Railway facts for kids
The Great Central Railway (GCR) of England was created in 1897 when the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway changed its name. In 1899, the GCR opened its London Extension to a new terminus at Marylebone station.
On 1 January 1923, the company became part of the London and North Eastern Railway under the Railways Act 1921.
