Elvaston is a village in Hancock County, Illinois, United States. The population was 147 at the 2020 census.
Geography
Elvaston is located in west-central Hancock County at 40°23′49″N 91°15′1″W / 40.39694°N 91.25028°W (40.396983, -91.250296). U.S. Route 136 passes through the center of the village, leading east 6 miles (10 km) to Carthage, the county seat, and west 5 miles (8 km) to Hamilton on the Mississippi River.

As of the 2020 census there were 147 people, 67 households, and 30 families residing in the village. The population density was 183.98 inhabitants per square mile (71.04/km2). There were 80 housing units at an average density of 100.13 per square mile (38.66/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 94.56% White, 0.68% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.68% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 4.08% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.68% of the population.
There were 67 households, out of which 14.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 31.34% were married couples living together, 5.97% had a female householder with no husband present, and 55.22% were non-families. 55.22% of all households were made up of individuals, and 20.90% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.70 and the average family size was 2.25.
