Crouch is a city in Boise County, Idaho, United States. The population was 162 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boise CityNampa, Idaho Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2018, it has multiple commercial businesses for tourists and residents: a small grocery mart, a hardware store, three restaurants, a bar, The Starlight Mountain Theater, and a community thrift store. At that time, the construction of the Banks/Lowman road 2512A, The "Wildlife Canyon Scenic Byway highway, transformed a small unpaved road unto a paved modern road between Crouch and Lowman. Now it is a fully modern paved roadway with informational and white water rafting pull outs which serves to transport tourists, rafters, commuters, and other traffic across the middle Idaho region.

The city was founded in 1934, and then incorporated as a City in 1951 to bring legal alcohol and gambling to the area.

The current mayor is Trevor Schiefelbein.

Geography

Crouch is located at 44°6′56″N 115°58′21″W / 44.11556°N 115.97250°W / 44.11556; -115.97250 (44.115496, -115.972536).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.44 square miles (1.14 km2), of which, 0.42 square miles (1.09 km2) is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 km2) is water.

2010 census

As of the census of 2010, there were 162 people, 74 households, and 43 families residing in the city. The population density was 385.7 inhabitants per square mile (148.9/km2). There were 90 housing units at an average density of 214.3 per square mile (82.7/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 96.9% White, 1.2% Native American, 0.6% Asian, and 1.2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.9% of the population.

There were 74 households, of which 24.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.6% were married couples living together, 6.8% had a female householder with no husband present, 2.7% had a male householder with no wife present, and 41.9% were non-families. 32.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.19 and the average family size was 2.81.

The median age in the city was 48.8 years. 21.6% of residents were under the age of 18; 7.4% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 16.7% were from 25 to 44; 37% were from 45 to 64; and 17.3% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 53.7% male and 46.3% female.

Climate

This climatic region has large seasonal temperature differences, with warm to hot (and often humid) summers and cold (sometimes severely cold) winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Crouch has a humid continental climate, abbreviated "Dfb" on climate maps.
