Craig Minervini facts for kids
Craig Minervini is an American sportscaster based in Miami, Florida. He is a host and commentator for Bally Sports Florida broadcasts. He is the host of Marlins Live pregame and postgame shows for the Miami Marlins and the former host of Panthers Live pregame and postgame shows for the Florida Panthers.
Career
From 1987 to 1988, Minervini also served as host and interviewer for the World Wrestling Federation (now known today as WWE) under the name Craig DeGeorge. DeGeorge was also partnered with Dick Graham for the WWF's Philadelphia Spectrum broadcasts that aired monthly on PRISM from 1987 until his exit. As DeGeorge, he also worked in the Universal Wrestling Federation as a commentator.
He was a lead broadcaster for Roller Hockey International on ESPN2 and hosted the recap show RHI Rewind on the network. Between 1989 and 1995, he was a sports anchor at WPBF in West Palm Beach, Florida; he left the station because new management would not permit him to do other play-by-play jobs and remain there. Craig then went to work at WTVJ in Miami.
In 2004, when the Panthers hired Dave Strader to be the voice of their TV broadcasts, he began hosting a two-hour daily show on WAXY (790 AM) in Miami.
In 2015, Minervini rejoined the Panthers broadcast team as a pregame and postgame host, similar to his duties on Marlins telecasts.
Minervini has also called Panthers radio telecasts and served as a fill-in play-by-play announcer for the Marlins. He also has done play-by-play for various other sports including Notre Dame football on NBC, CBS Sports Spectacular, the United Football League, the College World Series on ESPN, Major League Soccer, XFL on TNN and UPN, boxing on TNN, mixed martial arts on TNN, Syracuse Chiefs AAA baseball, and Syracuse Orange football, basketball, lacrosse, and soccer.
Personal life
He and former wife Martha Sugalski, also a television journalist, have two sons (Chase and Maxwell) and one daughter (Spencer). Sugalski filed for divorce in 2005.
