Betty Boop facts for kids
Betty Boop is an animated cartoon character created by Max Fleischer. She originally appeared in the Talkartoon and Betty Boop movie series. They were produced by Fleischer Studios and released by Paramount Pictures. She has also been featured in comic strips and mass merchandising, becoming one of the world's best-known and most popular cartoon characters.
Betty was first voiced by Margie Hines. Later, several different voice actresses performed the role.
The original Betty Boop cartoons were made in black and white. As new color cartoons made specifically for television began to appear in the 1960s, the original black-and-white cartoons were retired.
Accolades
- In 2002, Betty was voted in TV Guide's 50 greatest cartoon characters of all time, ranking #17.
- In 2004, Betty Boop was voted among the "100 Greatest Cartoons" in a poll conducted by the British television channel Channel 4, ranking at #96.
- In August 2010, the inaugural Betty Boop Festival was held in the city of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, and the second Festival was held in July 2011.
