Ash Grove is a city in Greene County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,512 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Springfield, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area.
History
Ash Grove was laid out in 1853. The city was named from a grove of ash trees near the original town site. A post office called Ash Grove has been in operation since 1849.
The Berry Cemetery, Nathan Boone House, and Gilmore Barn are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Geography
Ash Grove is located at 37°18′56″N 93°35′2″W / 37.31556°N 93.58389°W (37.315629, -93.583829).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.22 square miles (3.16 km2), all land.
The city is located approximately twenty miles northwest of Springfield, the state's third-largest city.

2010 census
As of the census of 2010, there were 1,472 people, 584 households, and 379 families living in the city. The population density was 1,206.6 inhabitants per square mile (465.9/km2). There were 661 housing units at an average density of 541.8 per square mile (209.2/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 97.4% White, 0.1% African American, 0.6% Native American, 0.1% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.8% of the population.
There were 584 households, of which 33.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.8% were married couples living together, 12.2% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.0% had a male householder with no wife present, and 35.1% were non-families. 31.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.96.
The median age in the city was 41.5 years. 24.3% of residents were under the age of 18; 7.2% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 22.6% were from 25 to 44; 25.7% were from 45 to 64; and 20.2% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 46.8% male and 53.2% female.

- Nathan Boone, veteran of the War of 1812, a delegate to the Missouri constitutional convention in 1820, and a captain in the 1st United States Regiment of Dragoons at the time of its founding, eventually rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel. Nathan was the youngest son of Daniel Boone.
In May 2023, the Ash Grove High School Pirates baseball team won the Missouri state class 2 baseball tournament, after an undefeated 2022–23 season.
