The arrondissement of Vierzon is an arrondissement of France, in the Cher department, Centre-Val de Loire region. Its capital, and subprefecture of the department, is the city of Vierzon.
History
When the Cher department was created on 1800, the arrondissement of Vierzon was not part of that original department. The arrondissement was created in 1984.
Geography
The arrondissement of Vierzon is in the northwest of the department. It is bordered to the north by the Loiret department, to the east by the Bourges arrondissement, to the south by the Indre-et-Loire department and to the west by the Loir-et-Cher department.
The arrondissement of Vierzon is the smallest arrondissement of the department with an area of 1,767.4 km2 (682.4 sq mi). It has a population of 71,236 inhabitants.
