The 2011 Myanmar earthquake was a 6.8 magnitude earthquake on March 24 in Shan State, Myanmar. Its hypocenter was 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) deep. It had two aftershocks, one of magnitude 4.8, another at magnitude 5.4. The quake's epicenter was 70 miles (110 km) from the northern Thai city of Chiang Rai, north of Mae Sai and southeast of Kentung.
Casualties
The Bangkok Post reported on 27 March 2011, that the death toll was "over 150", which is double the official figure of 75.
